Representation and Advocacy for Residents on the Hill

</aside>

The desire to promote the best interests of all residents with a focus on the quality and satisfaction of the on-campus living experience is at the forefront of all decision/policy making. The Resident Government Council (RGC) ensures that the voice of each community is reflected in housing policies and decisions. Students with an interest in leadership take on active, committed roles within the residential community. Our student leaders enhance the residential experience by engaging residents in activities and topics such as: academics, service, sustainability, and social justice. Positions which in each building’s RGC include: President, Treasurer, Outreach Representative and OCHC representative.

On-Campus Housing Council Executive Board provides oversight on RGC and is a key facet of student advocacy on the Hill. Board members play a critical role in maintaining an environment of community and inclusivity on campus. We strive to understand the diverse needs of our residents and encourage the expression of unique identities through our advocacy efforts.  OCHC embodies the True Bruin values and promotes them through activities, actions, and ResLife programming events. They also preside over the following meetings: Policy Review Board, Funding and Advisory Board, Team Green, and General Board meeting. Each quarter they Hill wide residential events including Haunted Hill and Casino Night.

As a land grant institution, the Resident Government Council and On-Campus Housing Council at UCLA acknowledges the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples as the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar (Los Angeles basin, So. Channel Islands).”
